“Just 10 more steps, Catie. 1…2…3…4…” I say to myself as I ascend a Colorado mountainside with a heavy mind. Each set of 10 sweeps my feet closer to the summit, releasing the burden of tension with which I began. Searching the immense rock-field for the next cairn to lead the way. Before I know it, my mind is free only thinking of the summit which awaits me. Nearing the top, I am surprised by a group of Mountain goats (my favorite!) descending for the evening. This is the high desert that I have always called home. It is an incredible place to learn to take photos as it is dynamic and ever changing. No sunrise or sunset is exactly the same, and the you must carefully chase the light as it disappears suddenly by a mountain eclipse.
